“I’m A Celebrity .. Get Me Out Of Here!” 2015 – ITV breaks new records for in-app voting

For the very first time viewers voted for free on the brand new I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! App and the level of audience interaction hit a record number.

One million viewers opened the app to place votes on the first show.

Throughout the series 2.7 million voters placed a total of 57.5 million votes for free via the app.

In the final 9.6 million votes were cast – this was the biggest in-app vote result in the UK .. ever.

The key to success was the scale and resilience of the Tectonic voting platform which enabled unprecedented numbers of viewers to vote on the Bushtucker trials and to save their favourite contestants.

As the Tectonic platform handles millions of users simultaneously and scales to handle sudden surges of activity, it supported the public vote and provided the validated accurate vote result in real-time to Ant and Dec live on-air.

“Best App” Finalist for Broadcast Digital Awards 2015

Tectonic Interactive, along with Channel 4, Endemol and Chunk, are finalists for the 2015 Broadcast Digital Awards for “Best App”.

The app for the world’s first truly interactive show, “The Singer Takes It All” has been short-listed for this years Broadcast Digital Awards. Results will be announced on 24th June 2015.

Tectonic Interactive provided the technology which managed live interaction from 100,000s of viewers via the app.

Using the app, the home audience determined the outcome of contestants as they sang live – contestants were propelled forward towards the gold zone or ejected backwards in response to their popularity.

The new entertainment format launched with a record 15% of the audience interacting live with the show. Channel 4 multiplatform commissioner for entertainment Jody Smith described The Singer Takes It All’s app as the commercial broadcaster’s “most successful launch”.

EastEnders fans have been glued to one of soapland’s biggest ever mysteries since Good Friday 2014. They used their detective skills in an online competition to win a tour of Albert Square as the storyline heads towards its climax this month, during EastEnders 30th Anniversary week.

The competition was widely promoted on-air, online and via social media utilising the Tectonic platform.

BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing Competition run by Tectonic

Earlier this month the BBC gave away a pair of tickets to the live final of Strictly Come Dancing. Viewers were invited to enter the competition online via the Strictly Come Dancing website.

Free voting introduced to The X Factor app

This year The X Factor fans can vote for free for the first time in the show’s history via App, available for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.
The App is free and so is the brand new voting element.

ITV’s broadcast interactive partner, Tectonic Interactive, has developed the voting service which enables home viewers to vote quickly and easily via their apps.

The service is highly scaled in anticipation of a great response from the home audience. This is another example of ITV working with Tectonic Interactive to create new opportunities for ITV viewers to engage with their favourite show.

The trailer for The Singer Takes It All has been released.

Tectonic Interactive manages the live voting , so viewers at home can decide whether the contestants go forwards to the “gold zone” or are reversed towards rejection on, what Alan calls “the moving track thing”. You decide via the app – “hit” or “miss” in real-time.

Oli Madgett joins Tectonic to lead the development of their multi award-winning platform in the APAC Region.

Oli said “I have seen how the leading Broadcasters in the UK have used the Tectonic Platform to create new interactive formats, revamp well-established and popular shows and bring a new audience of smartphone users to engage with TV. I want Australian and Asian broadcasters and production companies to see the same benefits.”

Oli is based out of Australia, and brings with him over a decade of experience working with production companies and broadcasters in the digital space. Previously Oli was Commissioning Editor for Interactive at ITV and a co-founder of Participation TV agency Siren – where as Client Services Director he lead the delivery of services across shows on ITV, Channel 4, Five, Emap TV, MTV, Flextech and Sky.

Oli was most recently one of the co-founders of social entertainment company WeR Interactive, where he developed the concept for I AM PLAYR which has let over 16 million users ‘playing the life of a footballer’. Nominated for a BAFTA for Best Online Browser Game, WeR scooped the Gold Cannes Lions Trophy. Oli received the H.100 Award for the 100 most influential and innovative people working across arts, culture and the creative industries in the UK.
